Woman Fabricated Robbery, Man Lied About Car Crash, Police Say

Bethlehem police charge two people for filing false reports.

Bethlehem police say two people lied about being the victims of crimes in two separate incidents.

On July 3, Linden Street resident Natasha Gelok told police she had been robbed at the Linden Food Market. But police say their investigation revealed Gelok had made up the robbery, and had written an apology about her lie.

It wasn't enough to keep her out of trouble; she was cited Wednesday for filing a false report.

Also Wednesday, Allentown resident Eric Leary crashed into three parked cars due to what police described as distracted driving.

Police say Leary initially told them another vehicle had caused the crash, but had driven away. He too was cited for filing a false report.
