Victim Misses Hearing, Judge Dismisses Charges

Robbery and assault charges against a Bethlehem man are dismissed when his victim, a 16-year-old boy, doesn't show up for preliminary hearing.

A Northampton County District Judge dismissed charges against a Bethlehem man accused of beating, slashing and robbing a city teen because the victim failed to show for a preliminary hearing Wednesday, The Express Times reported.

A city police detective asked for the hearing to be delayed so that the 16-year-old victim could fly back from Texas, where he is currently staying. Manwaring declined but told the detective that he could re-file the charges if the case has merit.

According to court records, the teen invited Ravix, who he knew, into his Garrison Street home to smoke marijuana with him. After smoking for a while, Ravix allegedly told the boy he intended to rob him.

According to the arrest warrant, Ravix then hit the boy over the head with a beer bottle, punched him in the head and body and slashed him with a knife when he resisted.

According to the affidavit, Ravix then pushed the teen into a closet and told him to stay there or he would kill him. Ravix then allegedly stole two laptop computers – one of them the property of the , a video game system, several video games, a cell phone and a backpack. The items are worth an estimated $2,200.
