2 p.m. UPDATE: Interstate 78 westbound has reopened, PennDOT reports.
10:30 a.m. UPDATE: PennDOT now reports that I-78 EASTBOUND HAS REOPENED. The westbound lanes are still closed as police investigate a fatal accident that happened around 4 a.m.
All lanes of Interstate 78 in the area of Lower Saucon Township are closed as of 9am Tuesday as the result of two separate accidents.
Gridlock is reported on alternate routes, including Routes 22 and 33.
One person died in an early-morning crash involving a car and a tractor trailer in the westbound lanes of 78, according to multiple reports. A separate accident later required the eastbound lanes to be shut down.
PennDOT is alerting motorists to expect delays.
