Two Arrested in Marvine-Pembroke Shooting

Argument over a revving engine led to shots, city police said. Suspect allegedly returned to scene with sawed-off shotgun and fired into house.

Two Bethlehem men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in which a man and were injured in the Marvine-Pembroke section of the city Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Joesyan Miranda, 21, of 375 Hamilton Ave., and Robinson Moyo Torres, 40, of 2018 Fifth St., were taken into custody in the area of Airport Road and Catasauqua Road in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, by city and state police, according to a news release.

The incident, which happened at about 4 p.m., was precipitated by an argument over an engine revving, police said. During the argument between Miranda and Torres and the victims, who were not identified by police, Miranda allegedly pulled out a razor knife.

The suspects left the scene, but a short time later returned to 1203 Randolf Road with other men. The victims attempted to flee into their house as Torres allegedly fired a sawed-off shotgun into the front of the home. Two children were inside at the time. The suspects then fled the area.

Torres was charged with four counts of attempted homicide, eight counts of aggravated assault, four counts of recklessly endangering another person, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, one count of carrying a prohibited offensive weapon and one count of possessing the instruments of a crime.

Miranda was charged with four counts of aggravated assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.

Both men were arraigned before night duty District Judge Joseph Barner before being committed to Northampton County Prison. Bail was set at $250,000 for Torres and $150,000 for Miranda.
