'Tis the Season for Fraud, Thefts from Vehicles

The Bethlehem Police Department reported the following incidents on Friday, Dec. 23:

For love of God and music?

A 67-year-old resident of the 300 block of East Locust Street reported late Thursday morning that unauthorized charges were made to his bank account in the amount of $683, police said. The money was used to make purchases from iTunes and Christianity Online, the report added.

No possible suspects were named in the fraud.

Quick turnaround

Jesse Kern, 24, of the unit block of West Goepp Street was formally charged with theft after being arrested on a warrant Thursday, Dec. 22 around 1:30 a.m., police report.

Kern containing dance costumes belonging to a woman at the same address, and refused to return the goods when contacted on Dec. 21 by phone by police, whereupon a warrant for his arrest was issued, police reported.

It was unclear if the property was recovered.

Watch your Garmin

• A Garmin GPS unit was stolen sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning from a Hyundai Santa Fe parked in the 1400 block of Madison Avenue, police reported Friday.
  The unknown suspect broke the center console, causing about $500 to make off with the $300 unit, the report added.
• Around 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Tyler Brokenshire, 19, of Coplay, was arrested and charged with theft after being allegedly caught checking vehicle door handles in the parking lot. Police further stated that Brokenshire entered a vehicle and stole a Garmin GPS, which he was in possession of when he was apprehended at the scene. The unit was recovered, they added.
