Tin Foil Helped Shoplifters Fool Sensors, Police Say

Thieves used foil-lined bag to steal Rogaine and diet pills, police say.

By Tom Coombe

Bethlehem police say two men used a foil-lined bag to fool the sensors at the South Side CVS, allowing them to steal $300 in Rogaine and diet pills.

Sharron Nanton, 43, of Freemansburg and Charles May, 45, of Brooklyn, were charged Saturday with retail theft and possession of an instrument of crime.

According to police, officers responded to a call from the CVS on W. Fourth Street Saturday afternoon about a theft in progress.

Police say Nanton and May were stopped at the store, where police found stolen items in a bag they'd lined with foil.

They were arraigned before on-duty District Judge Daniel Corpora in Easton, and both sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
