Teacher Accused of Having Sex with Student

This afternoon, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin and Allentown Police Chief Roger MacLean announced that William Allen High School teacher Gabrielle Suzanne Marvelli, 38, has been charged with Corruption of Minors for allegedly having sex with a student.

According to the release from the District Attorney's office, the criminal complaint "alleges that Marvelli had sexual intercourse with the student on May 28, 2011, at an Allentown motel.  The student, whose name is not being disclosed, was 17 at the time but was one week short of his 18th birthday. His date of birth is June 4, 1993."

Though the student was almost 18, District Attorney Jim Martin decided to prosecute "because teachers must be held to a high standard and, stating the obvious, should not enlist their students to engage in sexual relations.”
