SouthSide Man Suffered Head Trauma in Attack

City man charged with brutal beating and robbery near victim's home on E. Morton Street.

 

A Bethlehem man accused of severely beating and robbing another city man was apprehended late Tuesday night and sent to Northampton County Prison on a number of felony charges, according to court records.

Cassady Ryan Condash, 29, who’s last known address was 1416 E. University Drive, allegedly punched and then kicked his victim in the head repeatedly, even after he had fallen to the ground during the brutal Sunday night assault, according to the arrest warrant filed by .

The victim, Thomas Jones of 506 E. Morton St., on Wednesday was returned to the critical care unit at in Fountain Hill after having a setback from the injuries suffered during the assault, according to the arrest warrant.

Jones suffered head trauma and a broken jaw in the attack.

The attack happened near Jones’ home, on the 500 block of E. Morton Street. According to eyewitnesses, three men approached him at about 10 p.m. Sunday and demanded that he give them money before they began to punch him repeatedly, the court record says.

When police arrived at the scene, Jones was on the ground drifting in and out of consciousness. He was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital for the first time then.

Jones identified his attackers in a written statement he gave to Bethlehem police on Wednesday. In addition to Condash, Jones named Scott Brockel and Xavier Soto, according to the warrant.

Another eyewitness told police that Condash repeatedly punched Jones with “full force” while asking: “Where’s my money?” the warrant says. That same eyewitness told police that Condash kicked Jones in the face several times while he was lying on the ground.

During the attack, eyewitnesses told police, Condash instructed Brockel and Soto to “strip his pockets.”

Condash was charged with aggravated assault, robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery – all felonies.

In a separate case, Condash was also allegedly found to have a small amount of marijuana on him when he was arrested. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession for which bail was set at $25,000.
