SouthSide Man Stole from Mother, Police Say

Released from prison just before Christmas, Luis Cruz returned to his mother's South Bethlehem home -- and started stealing from her, according to police.

Bethlehem police say a city man got out of jail, moved in with his mother, and began to steal from her.

Luis Cruz, 33, of 1615 E. Eighth St., was charged Tuesday with theft.

According to court records, police were called to that address in response to a domestic dispute. Cruz's mother told officers her son had been stealing from her since his release from jail Dec. 21. Police say Cruz stole $500 worth of goods, including jewelry, CDs and a leather jacket.

He was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter of Wilson and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $7,500 bail.
