SouthSide Man Accused of Multiple Sex Assaults

Carlos Javier Ramirez charged with sexually abusing teenage girl for more than a year.

Telling police “I know it was wrong,” a SouthSide Bethlehem man admitted he sexually abused a young girl between June 2010 and July 2011, according to court records.

Carlos Javier Ramirez, 37, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.

The victim told police the abuse stopped in July 2011 when she told the suspect she was going to tell her mother what happened, the records say.

Police responded to the SouthSide address Wednesday on a report of a suicidal male, later identified as Ramirez. Police spoke to the victim and Ramirez on Thursday, the records say.

Ramirez was arraigned by on-duty District Judge Robert Hawke of Lehigh Township and committed to Northampton County Prison on $150,000 bail.
