'Slime' Arrested in Killing Outside Strip Club

Ulysses Rodriguez, whose street name is 'Slime,' was wanted in the fatal shooting of Tyree Wimberly Jan. 26.

A nearly seven-month search for a suspect who police say shot and killed a 21-year-old man as he walked past a strip club on the border between Bethlehem and Allentown ended Wednesday, according to a published report.

Police took Ulysses Rodriguez, 21, whose last known address was 937 Walnut St. in Allentown, into custody Wednesday night in Suffolk County, N.Y., according to a report on wfmz.com. Police learned of the outstanding warrant when they arrested Rodriguez, whose street name is "Slime," on a public drunkenness charge, the report said.

Police allege that Rodriguez gunned down Tyree Wimberly, who lived on Alice Street in Allentown, on the street outside of Scoobie’s Gentleman’s Club, 2327 Hanover Ave., Allentown, at about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 26.

An eyewitness told police there was a confrontation at Club Avenue and Eaton Avenue after Rodriguez offered to sell marijuana and Wimberly refused to buy, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

The witness said he saw the shooter pull a handgun from his waistband in the back of his pants and point it at Wimberly, according to the affidavit. Then the witness said he heard several shots before Wimberly walked toward the entrance of Scoobie’s and collapsed.

The shooter then fled, the witness told police.
