Tree Trimmer Killed in Power Line Accident

Power was shut off in part of Bethlehem following a fatal industrial accident on Sand Island Saturday morning.

An Asplundh worker was killed Saturday morning when he accidentally came in contact with a high-voltage power line while trimming trees on Sand Island in preparation for Musikfest, according to a WFMZ report.

Power was cut to about 950 PPL customers in the Northampton County section of the city when power lines were deactivated after the accident.

The tree trimmers were contractors for PPL, a PPL spokesman told Lehigh Valley Live.
