Police: Woman Scratched, Bit and Spit at Cop

Suspect was found intoxicated and slumped over in car. She struggled while being loaded into ambulance.

 

A Bethlehem woman was jailed Saturday after allegedly scratching, spitting on, and attempting to bite a city police officer.

According to court records, Officer James Hoffman encountered Ebony Jones, 29, of 1341 Fritz Drive, at the corner of Woodbine Street and Wellington Road around 2:46 a.m.

Police say Jones was slumped over, and appeared to be intoxicated. Hoffman called for an ambulance. While they loading Jones into the ambulance, she began struggling with police, scratching Hoffman's arm, spitting in his face and on his uniform, and trying to bite him.

Jones is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness. She was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Daniel Corpora in Easton, and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
