Police responded to the scene shortly before 5 a.m. after casino security reported that a woman was screaming for help inside a hotel room. A patron in a neighboring room reported that he had heard a man threaten to kill someone, court papers say.

Inside Room 1016, police found Mullins, while his girlfriend was in the shower, half-dressed with the water running. She had a bleeding laceration behind her left ear and bruises above her left eye, on her head and her chest, the arrest affidavit says. When police asked her what had happened, she only shook her head and shrugged.
