Police: SouthSide Man Threw Girlfriend Down Stairs

18-year-old man allegedly punched girlfriend several times before throwing her down the stairs, Bethlehem police say.

 

An 18-year-old South Bethlehem man is accused of throwing his live-in girlfriend down a flight of stairs on Thursday morning, according to court papers.

Kaneef Dennis “is no longer welcome” at 414 Broadway, which had been his home address prior to the alleged domestic assault there, according to the arrest affidavit. He now resides at Northampton County Prison after he was unable to post $75,000 bail.

According to the arrest affidavit:

  • The 19-year-old victim told police that Dennis had struck her with a fist several times in the mouth and head before he grabbed her and shoved her down a full flight of wooden stairs.
  • Dennis fell down the stairs himself and then punched the woman several more times before fleeing from the house.
  • One eyewitness who lives in the building told police she saw Dennis punch the victim and throw her down the stairs. She and two more eyewitnesses told police they saw Dennis punch the victim at the bottom of the stairs.
  • The victim suffered a lump on her forehead about “the size of half a golf ball.” She also suffered bleeding lacerations on the inside of her mouth and on the middle finger of her right hand.

Dennis was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was arraigned before District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez.
