Wimberly, 21, of 2341 S. Alice St., Allentown, was shot at 1:30 a.m. Saturday on the 2200 block of W. Broad Street, in front of Scoobie’s, a strip club on the Allentown side of the municipal boundary between the two cities.

He died at St. Luke’s University Hospital at 3:40 a.m. Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim has determined that the death was a homicide.

Detectives with the Bethlehem Police Department and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office Homicide Task Force believe the three men and one woman in the released photos were in the area when the shooting occurred.

No arrests have been made and police have released few details about the shooting, other than to say it was the apparent result of an altercation outside the strip club.

However, Wimberly’s mother, Valerie Wimberly, told The Morning Call that her son was not inside Scoobie’s that night, but was walking past the club when he was confronted by an “aggressive” man who was trying to sell him a bag of marijuana.

When Wimberly refused, the dealer shot him twice in the chest, according to the report.

Anyone who may know the identity of the individuals or has information about the shooting is asked to contact Bethlehem Det. Brad Jones at 610-865-7146, Bethlehem Det. Jason Fulmer at 610-997-7682 or Task Force Det. Richard Heffelfinger at 610-782-3654.
