Police: Sands Visitor Defecated in Urinal

Bethlehem police charged a man with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after he allegedly defecated in a urinal, then assaulted people waiting for a charter bus at the Sands Casino Resort early Saturday, according to court papers.

The suspect had no identification, but told police that his name was Julio Martinez, 26, and that he is from Mexico.

“The defendant displayed bloodshot, glassy eyes, mumbled speech, swayed back and forth, and I detected an odor of alcoholic beverage on his person,” read the affidavit of probable cause.

Martinez was escorted out of the casino and into the parking garage after several casino patrons observed him defecating in a urinal, according to the arrest record. Once he was outside, he allegedly punched several people waiting for a charter bus, police said.

Martinez was arraigned under the name John Doe in front of on-duty District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
