Police: Purse-Snatching Attempt at Sands Failed
74-year-old woman was pushed to the ground, but did not give up her purse at casino parking deck,
A 74-year-old woman successfully prevented a would-be purse-snatcher from running off with her valuables at the parking deck Thursday afternoon, city police said.
Barbetta Charles of Northampton told police she was shoved to the ground in the attempt a little after 2 p.m., but the would be robber ran away empty-handed. Charles was uninjured, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 20 years old, with dreadlocks and wearing dark clothing. Sands Casino security personnel are currently reviewing security camera footage to determine if the attempt was captured on video, city police said.
