Police: Hanover Man Stabs Father, Then Himself

A Hanover Township man stabbed his father in the back, then turned the knife on himself early Sunday morning, according to Colonial Regional Police.

Andrew M. Steinberg, 24, of 4417 Tracey Lane, will be charged with aggravated assault once he is released from St. Luke’s Hospital, police said.

A physical struggle between Steinberg, and his father, Mark A. Steinberg, 55, also of 4417 Tracey Lane, led to the stabbing, according to the news release issued by police.

Police were called at about 1 a.m. to a home on the 1300 block of Cherry Avenue where the younger Steinberg lay on a porch bleeding from multiple self-inflicted stab wounds to his abdomen.

Police say it was after responding to this call that they learned that the father had been stabbed in the back and was taken by private vehicle to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg. He was treated and released there, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
