Police: City Man Burglarized Lynfield Neighbor

Family discovered burglar on second floor of their home early Thursday morning.

A Bethlehem man and an alleged accomplice have been charged in the burglary of the city man’s neighbor in the Lynfield Housing Development early Thursday morning, according to court papers.

Candido Cruz Jr., 19, of 1738 Lynfield Drive, has been charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property and two counts of theft.

His neighbors at 1736 Lynfield Drive were awoken at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday to discover the accomplice, allegedly 21-year-old Robert Martinez Jr. of 882 N. Jerome St., Allentown, prowling around the second floor of the home, the arrest warrant said. The burglar fled the home.

Taken were a video game console, a hand-held video game player and a GPS system, which was stolen from the family car, according to the arrest affidavit.

Martinez has also been charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property and two counts of theft. According to the warrants, both Cruz and Martinez admitted to the crime in interviews with Bethlehem police.
