Police: 20 Packs of Crack Pinned to Underwear

Bethlehem man had 20 packets of crack cocaine attached to his underwear with a safety pin, state troopers say.

State police went to a Williams Township gun store/shooting range Wednesday afternoon as part of an investigation into a wanted person attempting to buy a firearm.

They made an arrest, but the charges ended up having to do with drugs.

They say Curtis Jamar Brown, 32, of Bethlehem had 20 packets of crack cocaine in a plastic bag that was attached to his underwear with a safety pin. They also say Brown lied about his identity, and they discovered he was arrested by Plainfield, N.J., police for alleged felony drug and weapons violations, court records say.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper Robert Figurski of state police at Belfast:

  • Their investigation took them to the Heritage Guild, a gun store/shooting range on Hilton Street in Williams Township, just south of the Easton line. The man later identified as Brown had attempted to buy a firearm. A background check known as NICS – National Instant Criminal Background Check System -- was conducted and a positive hit for a warrant came back.
  • Police identified the man with his Pennsylvania driver’s license – and his identity came back as Omar Moyet-Santana. They took him to the Belfast barracks and through fingerprinting discovered he lied about his identity. He was actually Curtis Jamar Brown.
  • They later found the crack cocaine pinned to his underwear.

Brown, of 401 E. Broad St., was charged with manufacturing and delivering or possessing with intent to manufacture or deliver crack cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, and use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned later Wednesday by on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township and committed to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $100,000 bail.
