NY Man Jailed After Trespassing Sands for 8th Time

Ze Yu Zhang, ejected from Sands seven times since 2010, is thrown in prison for making 8th visit.

A Brooklyn, N.Y., man had been evicted seven times since 2010 from the , but that didn’t stop him from appearing again early Monday.

And for the eighth time, Ze Yu Zhang, 45, was evicted but with something else: He was taken to jail.

officer Michael Karavoulias was dispatched to the Sands at 12:47am for a man who was trespassing. The officer talked to a Sands security official who recognized Zhang was someone who had been evicted before – seven times before.

A criminal complaint filed by Karavoulias does not say why Zhang was evicted, but it gives the eviction dates – Nov. 13, 2010, Dec. 8, 2010, Dec. 13, 2010, Oct. 8, 2011, Jan. 13, 2011, March 11, 2012 and last month, July 30.

A Chinese interpreter read Zhang the eviction notice for all eight dates, including Monday’s incident.

Zhang was charged with defiant trespass at an arraignment by on-duty District Judge Robert Hawke of Lehigh Township and committed to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $5,000 bail.
