New Vests Will Protect City K9 Cops

Bethlehem dogs among 163 nationwide benefitting from Groupon campaign.

The Bethlehem Police Department's K9 units will be a little safer on the job, thanks to a Groupon Campaign that raised money to buy protective vests for dozens of four-legged officers around the country.

City police say K9 units Roko and Rexo will each get a ballistic/stab resistant vest, purchased thanks to a campaign by Vested Interest K9′s, a Massachusetts organization that raises money to buy protective vests.

The campaign raised more than $155,000 in a little over a week, enough to buy vests for 163 dogs, police said.
