Man Who Snuck Gun Into Prison Pleads Guilty

Semi-automatic weapon eluded police and prison guard search.

A city man who’s hidden handgun eluded searches by both Bethlehem police and Northampton County Prison guards, prompting a lengthy prison lockdown, has pleaded guilty to weapons and drug charges, according to The Morning Call.

Christian L. Neith of 2107 Easton Ave. remains free on $100,000 bail pending his sentencing, which is scheduled in October. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a firearm without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to authorities, Neith carried his unlicensed weapon in a crotch holster into Northampton County Prison after . He took the 9-mm semi-automatic gun and hid it behind a cabinet in the prison’s intake area.

The gun was not found for a week, prompting the lockdown, disciplinary action against guards and police officers involved in Neith’s search and at the jail.
