Man Wanted in Fatal Hit-and-Run Surrenders

Julio Acevedo surrenders in Bethlehem parking lot after 3-day hunt; police say he is responsible for triple fatal hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn, N.Y.

 

A three-day manhunt for the driver police say is responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed three people in Brooklyn, N.Y., ended today in Bethlehem, according to multiple published reports.

Julio Acevedo surrendered to New York City police today in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill on Route 412 in South Bethlehem, according to WFMZ.

Acevedo had eluded capture since Sunday, when police say he fled the scene of a crash that killed a young pregnant woman and her husband in the Williamsburg section of the borough, according to The New York Times.

The son of Nathan and Raizy Glauber was delivered three-months premature after the crash, but he died the next day.

The Times reported that Derrick Hamilton, a friend of Acevedo’s, arranged the surrender in Bethlehem.
