Man Shot Dead Near Rose Garden Park

A Bethlehem man was shot near Eighth Avenue and West Union Boulevard on Saturday night and died at St. Luke's.

Bethlehem Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the area of 744 Eighth Avenue near the intersection of Eighth Avenue and West Union Boulevard on Saturday night.

The scene is near Rose Garden Park and Nitschmann Middle School in West Bethlehem.

Police responded to an emergency call at 10:18 p.m. Saturday.

Ian Juma, 21, of 3117 East Blvd., was pronounced dead at 12:18 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill, according to a press release from the Lehigh County Coroner's office.

Juma's death has been ruled a homicide. An autopsy will be done Monday.

The shooting is under investigation by the Bethlehem Police Department, Lehigh County District Attorneys’ Office and Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
