Man Hid in Backyard With 55 Bags of Crack, Police Say

An Easton man is facing drug charges in Bethlehem after allegedly running and hiding from police while carrying 55 bags of crack cocaine.

Hector Rentas, Jr., 22, of the 100 block of E. Madison Street, is charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

According to court records, an officer was on patrol early Monday morning in South Bethlehem when he saw Rentas duck behind a parked car. Rentas then allegedly ran away, hid again, and ran again. 

He was eventually found hiding in a backyard on the 500 block of Alaska Street, police said.

Rentas was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter, and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
