A Bethlehem man has been charged with having sexual intercourse with an animal and cruelty to animals after he allegedly raped a dog in Allentown on Friday, according to court records.

Police say Juan Sanabria-Hernandez, 26, sexually assaulted a Shih-Tzu at the home of the dog's owner, Angela Rivera, who later noticed that the dog was hurt and acting unusual, according to a Lehigh Valley Live report.

Sanabria-Hernandez is free on bail awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 29.
