Man Accused of Threat to Chop off Woman's Head

Woman was trying to get man evicted from home, so he threatened to cut off her head and "put it in a plastic bag."

Correction: The original headline said the suspect threatened the landlord, but it was not the landlord who had been threatened.

In a confrontation Saturday morning, a Bethlehem man responding to a woman's attempt to have him evicted told her, “I’ll chop your head off and put it in a plastic bag if you throw me out,” according to court records.

The woman told police that the man, Frederick Opp, who turns 55 Tuesday (Feb. 14),  grabbed her by her shirt and shook her violently while they were inside 706 Broadway around 11:30am. She said they had gotten into an argument about her filing paperwork with the landlord to have him evicted from the residence.

She said she feared for her safety, noting she is “very close” to having Opp evicted.

Opp was arraigned later Saturday by on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township on charges of terroristic threats and harassment. He was committed to Northampton County Prison after failing to post $3,500 bail.
