According to state police, Durrenberger's car was parked on the shoulder of Route 22 when it was struck from behind by a car driven by Michele Malitsch of Whitehall.

Since Mark was off the roadway, had a flat and was waiting for 'roadside assistance' in his car...what justifies Michele Malitsch's killing him by striking his parked vehicle? There's no further investigation of this needed to charge her with vehicular homicide. The accident details can be forthcoming later for the accident investigation's sake, but aren't necessary for the criminal charges to go forward.

"Sarah Durrenberger January 25 This morning my dad had a flat tire on the way to work and pulled over to the side of the road. While he was waiting for AAA he was hit by someone doing 70. As of right now we are keeping him comfortable until he decides to go. Please pray for my family as we are hurting so bad while watching the strongest, kindest, and most loving man in the world get ready to join our mom."

"Sarah Martin January 26 My Heart is breaking today for my Daughter in Law Sarah Durrenberger, she was so strong to stay with her father while he passed away last night. I cry just thinking about her strength. Her father was a strong, kind man who loved his 3 children and 6 grandchildren as much as life itself. Tragically he was taken by someone who hit him doing over 70 mph, while he was sitting on the shoulder of the road and waiting for AAA to help with a flat tire. A very sad heart today. Please say a prayer for David and Sarah and her family."
