Liberty High School Senior was Fugitive From Justice

Anthony Holmes was arrested in school Wednesday for allegedly shooting a man in Virginia.

U.S. Marshals and Bethlehem Police detectives converged on Liberty High School on Wednesday afternoon to arrest a 19-year-old man wanted in Virginia for allegedly shooting another man in February.

Anthony Holmes of 450 E. North St. was taken into custody by police and marshals at about 2 p.m., police said.

According to a Morning Call report, Holmes, a Liberty senior, hoped to avoid being arrested until graduation. He planned to turn himself in then.

Holmes was taken into custody without incident and arraigned as a fugitive from justice before District Justice Roy Manwaring, police said. He is in Northampton County Prison awaiting extradition to Virginia.
