Lehigh Football Player Arrested in Fight Outside Leon's Bar

Lehigh Football Coach says four players are suspended indefinitely from team, according to published reports.

Lehigh University football player Russhon Phillips was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly kicking another man in the face while he was on the ground outside Leon's Bar.

Bethlehem police said Phillips, 19, who lives on campus, was charged with aggravated assault and sent to Northampton County jail in lieu of 10 percent of $75,000 bail. He was arrested at 12:45 a.m.

Phillips, of Plymouth Meeting, is a sophomore at the college, according to the Lehigh football team roster.

Another Lehigh student will be cited with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct for starting the fight, police said.

Possible charges are pending against another person, police said.

Lehigh University Football Coach Andy Coen, in a prepared statement, told reporters Wednesday that four football players had been suspended following an incident off campus, according to lehighvalleylive.com. He did not say if Phillips was among them.
