Historic Home Invasion Trial Gets Under Way

Luis Martinez is accused of tying up a married couple for hours while he ransacked house.

The trial of a Bethlehem man accused of forcibly entering a Historic Bethlehem home, then tying up and terrorizing the couple who lived there, got under way today in Northampton County Court, according to this report in The Morning Call.

Luis N. Martinez, 27, is facing multiple charges for the Father’s Day home invasion, including kidnapping, robbery and aggravated assault. Opening arguments were heard today.

His co-defendant, Jeremiah Nieves, 25, also of Bethlehem, pleaded guilty to his charges last month, but still awaits sentencing.

Police say the two men forced their way into the home at 218 E. Market St. and tied up a husband and wife in separate rooms and keeping them there for several hours while they ransacked the house and then stole their Lexus sedan.
