Gas Station Robbed by Mask-Wearing Men

Police: Man brandished knife in Ike's Shell at Center and Elizabeth

Two men wearing ski masks and knit gloves robbed the Ike's Shell gas station at Center Street and Elizabeth Avenue on Monday night, Bethlehem police said.

One of the men brandished 6-inch boning knife at the clerk, while his accomplice went behind the counter and removed $74 from the cash register and a blue cash box containing $235 from the safe, police said.

The robbery happened shortly before 11 p.m. when the two men, both about 6 feet tall, entered the store, police said.

The one who brandished the knife wore grey sweatpants and a black jacket with "Northface" printed in white on the right rear shoulder area and a blue hoodie underneath, police said. The hoodie may have had yellow writing on the hood, saying, "Reach the Beach."

His accomplice wore all black, a hoodie and pants, police said. The man with the knife called his partner, "Mike," police said. After the robbery, both men fled on foot.

Burglaries reported on the South Side

There were two burglaries reported along E. Fourth Street on Monday, police said.

In one at 5 E. Fourth St., the burglar apparently entered through a window by removing an air conditioner and then replacing it before he left, police said. Taken from the victim, James McDevitt, was a black backpack containing two laptop computers and a digital camera.

In the other burglary at 412 E. Fourth St., the home of Robert Payne, someone entered through an unlocked window and stole two video game consoles and 200 DVDs that were stored in a box, police said.

Easton man charged with possession

Kevin White, 27, of 112 S. Warren St., Easton, was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana on the 500 block of Ontario Street in South Bethlehem, Monday morning, city police said. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and providing false identification for law enforcement officers.
