Accused Driver in NYC Triple Fatal Crash Waives Extradition
Julio Acevedo is on his way back to New York after surrendering to authorities in Bethlehem; he is believed to be responsible for three deaths in Brooklyn hit-and-run crash.
Julio Acevedo, who was wanted in a triple-fatal hit-and-run car crash in Brooklyn, N.Y. and surrendered to authorities in Bethlehem after three days, waived his right to an extradition hearing and was brought back to New York on Thursday, according to published reports.
Acevedo turned himself in at an arranged surrender meeting with the New York Police Department in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill on Route 412 just off I-78 in South Bethlehem near Hellertown, according to WFMZ.
Acevedo was later arraigned on a fugitive warrant in front of Lehigh County night duty District Judge Wayne Maura before he was committed to the county prison for the night.

That raised a question among some since Acevedo surrendered in Northampton County.
According to The Express Times, which quoted Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli, there was no Pennsylvania law enforcement at the Turkey Hill surrender meeting and New York officers contacted the Pennsylvania State Police to determine how to proceed.

They were instructed to bring Acevedo to the state police Bethlehem barracks, which is in Lehigh County, where he was officially placed into custody, the newspaper reported.
Acevedo had eluded capture since Sunday, when police say he fled the scene of a crash that killed a young couple in the Williamsburg section of the borough, according to The New York Times.
The son of Nathan and Raizy Glauber, who were both 21, was delivered three-months premature after the crash, but he died the next day.
