Former Broughal Employee Admits to Internet Threats

A former employee who was arrested in January after he made threats on Facebook against the school and Lehigh Valley International Airport pleaded guilty today to a misdemeanor terroristic threats charge, according to a Morning Call report.

James W. Kelley, 38, was sentenced to time served in prison -- about 60 days -- plus five years of probation in which he will be required to continue treatment for mental health issues. He was recently diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, according to his attorney, James Burke.

The threats and his subsequent arrest led to grave concerns about the South Side middle school, where more than 100 parents turned out for a to discuss what had happened. The school briefly operated a heightened security alert, and morning entry procedures were changed.

As a condition of Kelley's probation, he is barred from any properties.
