Elderly Woman Hit Trespasser with Cane, Police Say

Allentown man charged with criminal trespass and simple assault for break-in at Woodmont Mews.

An Allentown man got a little more than he bargained for when he broke into a West Bethlehem apartment early Sunday and got belted by an elderly woman wielding a cane, city police said.

Ricky Rose, 25, of 2633 S. Arch St., retaliated by punching the woman in the head, which knocked her to the ground and caused a large bump, police said.

The alleged break-in occurred at a little after 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the Woodmont Mews apartment complex in the 1300 block of Martin Court, police said.

Rose was charged with felony criminal trespass, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

Rose was arraigned before District Judge David B. Harding of Coopersburg and released on $20,000 bail.
