A 21-year-old Easton man died of his injuries early this morning after being ejected from a vehicle that hit an embankment on Route 22, authorities said.

Brett Kline of 138 Ann St., who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at 4:17 a.m. at St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said.

The driver, Stephen Sales, 23, of Nazareth was not hurt, according to state police at Bethlehem.

The crash occurred at 3:22 a.m. on eastbound Route 22 in Bethlehem Township at mile marker 329.1, the coroner said.

According to state police, Sales lost control of the vehicle, which hit the barrier separating the eastbound and westbound lanes and then an embankment on the south shoulder.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Friday, Grim said.

His office and state police are conducting an investigation, he said.
