Woman Killed, Husband in Custody

Woman, 37, pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m., coroner says; her body was found on the 300 block of Central Park Avenue.


The Lehigh County coroner has ruled the death of a West Bethlehem woman a homicide. 

The woman's husband, Win Min Htut, is in custody and will be charged in her death, according to multiple published reports.

Coroner Scott Grim told Patch the 37-year-old woman was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday. Cause of death is pending an autopsy. She has been identified as Thida Nyint.

Lehighvalleylive.com reported that Nyint had obtained a protection from abuse order against her husband, and that Win Min Htut had shot his estranged wife in front of their three children outside their home.

The coroner had been called to the 300 block of Central Park Avenue following reports of a shooting.

Lehighvalleylive.com reported earlier that police with the help of firefighters, had retrieved something from a manhole.  Wfmz.com reported that a body appeared to be in the middle of the cul-de-sac.

Morning Call reporter Manny Gamiz posted on Twitter that a neighbor said a boy had been crying over his mother's body in the street.

Central Park Avenue is just east of the Allentown line and south of Hanover Avenue/W. Broad Street.
