DA Wants Murder Witness Held in Jail

Algee Macon, now in prison, has been a reluctant witness against his brother, the suspect.

The Northampton County District Attorney wants its star witness for the trial of a Bethlehem murder suspect held in prison until he testifies, according to this report on Lehigh Valley Live.

Algee Macon is currently serving time for an aggravated assault, but is due to be released from state prison in October. He is a key prosecution witness against his brother, Daniel Macon, who is in the 2006 killing of 15-year-old Kevin Muzila.

Algee Macon, who had , testified under court order at Daniel Macon’s . Charges against Daniel Macon were held for trial, largely on the strength of Algee Macon’s testimony.

Prosecutors contend that Daniel Macon ordered a hit on a rival drug dealer, but the man he sent to complete the task, Paul Serrano, knocked on the wrong W. Union Boulevard door and shot Muzila in the chest. Serrano has already pleaded guilty to the crime.

Prosecutors now fear that Algee Macon, who testified that his brother told him about the hit he ordered, will disappear or refuse to appear in court when it is time for Daniel Macon’s trial.

An assistant district attorney today petitioned a Northampton County judge to order Algee Macon held until trial or to be released from state prison only on bail.
