Update: Crews Battle Fountain Hill House Fire

Double home threatened on Lechauwecki Avenue.

Update at 12:30 p.m.  A fire at a duplex at 601-603 Lechauwecki Ave. in Fountain Hill this morning has displaced six people and caused about $150,000 to $175,000 in damages, Assistant Fire Chief Chief Dan Pope said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. However, Pope said it appears the fire started in a back bedroom at 603 Lechauwecki Ave. He said officials have reason to believe it was accidental.

He said 603 Lechauwecki Ave. sustained heavy fire damage. The fire at 601 Lechauwecki Ave. was contained to the upper floor.
