Cracked Windshield Led Police to Unregistered Sex Offender

Freemansburg man faces three felony counts for failing to register his address with Pennsylvania State Police.

A cracked windshield and an expired inspection sticker on a sport utility vehicle led police to arrest a man for failing to register with the state police as a convicted sex offender, according to court papers.

Theodore Lamont Davis, 36, of 646 Ramblewood Lane, Freemansburg, was also wanted for an arrest warrant in New Jersey, according to court papers.

Davis was driving his wife’s Ford Explorer east on Pembroke Road at Fernwood Street when Bethlehem police stopped him at about 8:20 a.m. Thursday.

According to an arrest affidavit, Davis initially lied to police about his identity when he could not produce any paperwork or ID cards.

Davis is facing three felony counts relating to his alleged failure to register with the state police Megan’s Law Division as a sex offender. He was also charged with providing false identification to law enforcement and four summary vehicle violations.

Davis was arraigned before District Judge Patricia Romig-Passaro and committed to Northampton County in lieu of $20,000 bail.
