Cops: Sands Patron Dropped Cocaine on Casino Floor

Bushkill Township man accused of having six more baggies of cocaine, in addition to the one he dropped on the floor of the Sands Casino, police say.

A Bushkill Township man who told police he'd been awake for over a week was arrested on drug charges Wednesday morning at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.

Miguel Rios, 38, of 106 W. Mountain Rd., is charged with violating the state controlled substances act.

According to court records, Sands security found a bag of white powder on the casino floor around 12:24 a.m. Wednesday. When reviewing surveillance footage, they saw a man -- later identified as Rios -- drop the bag about 40 minutes earlier.

Police tracked Rios down inside the casino, and discovered he had a bag with six additional baggies of cocaine. He told them it was for his personal use, "and has currently been up for over a week," police said.

Rios was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter in Wilson, and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
