Clown Suit Bank Robber Gets 2-10 Years

Judge says 44-year-old mother of two has "incredible mental problems."

A woman who dressed in a clown costume and robbed a Bethlehem Township bank by threatening tellers with a fake bomb, was sentenced to two to 10 years in prison today, according to a story in The Morning Call.

Carolyn A. Williams, a 44-year-old mother of two, could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in state prison for the robbery at the on Freemansburg Avenue. At the time, Williams had claimed she was coerced to commit the robbery by kidnappers who took her children.

"She comes across to me as having incredible mental problems, and as a result, she's a danger to the community,” Judge Stephen Baratta said in handing down the sentence.
