City Man Tried to Kill Pregnant Girlfriend, Police Say

25-year-old who has spent last 6 years in the Army reportedly told police he was 'full of rage' and could not control himself or his anger.

A six-year U.S. Army veteran has been charged with attempted criminal homicide for allegedly trying to kill his 3-months pregnant girlfriend with his bare hands at their Wyandotte Street home on Tuesday night, according to published reports and online court records.

Steven Thomas Biechy, 25, allegedly pointed a .22-caliber handgun at the woman, choked her to near unconsciousness and tried to break her neck during a prolonged fight at the home, according to The Express-Times.

When the victim tried to leave the house, Biechy knocked her to the ground and dragged her back inside by the leg, the newspaper reported.

Police responding to the home on Tuesday night found Biechy with the handgun threatening to kill himself and he was subsequently taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, according to The Morning Call.

It was not until Thursday night that the victim came to police to report the assault. Biechy admitted to telling officers he was “full of rage” and could not control himself or his anger, the newspaper reported.

In addition to attempted criminal homicide, Biechy was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault of an unborn child, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and false imprisonment, according to online court records.

He was arraigned Friday morning before District Judge David Tidd of Lower Saucon Township and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
