City Man Sought in Assault on Girlfriend

Police say he choked her, threw her to the floor then punched her repeatedly.

Bethlehem police are looking for a city man who is accused of assaulting his live-in girlfriend at their Easton Avenue home on Monday night.

Heriberto Ortiz, 28, of 1530 Easton Ave., allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and threw her to the ground, causing her to momentarily black out, according to this morning’s police media report.

Ortiz then put the woman in a headlock and punched her in the face several times before fleeing the home at a little before 10 p.m., police said.

Police have issued a warrant for Ortiz on a first-degree felony assault charge.

Argument Over Drug Use Leads to Boyfriend Tirade

A Bethlehem man was arrested after he choked and slapped his girlfriend, then caused more than $2,700 in property damage at her apartment on W. Market Street., police said.

Michael Andino, 24, of 542 Thomas St., was charged with simple assault, harassment, terroristic threats and criminal mischief following his tirade, which took place at about 9:30 Monday night at 318 W. Market St.

Police said the argument began because Andino had brought drugs into the apartment.

 

Robbed at Knifepoint on E. Morton Street

A 21-year-old city man told police he was robbed at knifepoint of $103 on the 300 block of E. Morton St shortly before 10:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim was identified by police as Vincent Arnold of 819 Meade St.
