City Man Gets Maximum Sentence for Sex Assault

Victim gives emotional, angry testimony at sentencing hearing.

A Bethlehem man who pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault was sentenced to five to 10 years in a state prison following emotional testimony given by his victim at today’s sentencing hearing, according to The Morning Call.

Jose M. Vazquez’s sentence is the maximum he could have received for the conviction, which came in a plea agreement that followed a trial in which the jury could not agree whether Vazquez was guilty of a more serious charge, such as child rape.

At the sentencing hearing, Vazquez’s victim spoke of the abuse she suffered at his hands, which allegedly began when she was 8 years old.
