SouthSide man charged in November 12 Marvine Village assault.

A Bethlehem man has been charged with punching his ex-girlfriend in the right eye, leaving it swollen shut, and taking and breaking her $200 cell phone in a Nov. 12 incident in the city’s Marvine Village section, according to court records.

The incident involving the suspect, Walter Guy Rosario-Sales, 20, of 721 Cherokee St., happened at 11:55pm at Woodbine and Howard streets, the records say. Police responded to the nearby 1300 block of Hilton Street and saw the woman with her eye swollen shut and talked to the resident of the address who said the victim is the ex-girlfriend of her brother – Rosario-Sales. The victim also was kicked while on the ground, the records say.

The records did not say how and where the suspect was taken into custody.

He was arraigned Wednesday night before District Judge Todd Strohe of Bangor on charges of  robbery, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief. He was taken to Northampton County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $2,500 bail.
