A West Bethlehem man accused of gunning down his wife in front of their home in December was ordered to stand trial for criminal homicide following a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Win Min Htut, 37, allegedly killed his wife, Thida Myint, in the street in front of the family home at 319 Central Park Ave. on Dec. 17 as all three of their children watched, according to police.
Htut then fled with the youngest child—a 3-year-old girl -- but he was soon arrested at a nearby 7-Eleven, police said. Myint, who had obtained a protection from abuse order against her husband just hours earlier, died of a single gunshot wound.
Htut told police that he took the gun from his father’s home and went to Central Park Avenue with the intent of killing himself, according to The Express Times. The gun went off accidentally when he pointed it at Myint, Htut told police.
Htut is also charged with burglary and criminal trespassing. He is being held in Lehigh County Prison without bail.
