Charges Against Health Director May be Dropped

Bethlehem’s suspended health bureau director, accused of hitting her domestic partner with a glass candle holder, may have charges against her dropped if she continues to undergo anger management counseling, according to published reports.

Lehigh County Assistant District Attorney Juliet Dowling said that her office will consider dropping charges against Judith Maloney in 90 days, The Morning Call reported.

Dowling made the statement during a preliminary Friday before District Judge Robert Halal, who was assigned to the case after of Bethlehem recused himself.

The at Maloney’s home where she lived with Michael Correll, after the couple argued about the dog, Correll required three staples to close the wound in his head.

Maloney is charged with simple assault and harassment and remains free on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Shortly after the arrest, Maloney’s attorney, Melissa Rudas, said that it was really Maloney who had been the victim of domestic abuse. Maloney remains suspended from her job with the city.
